We here at The Little Guy Marketing have been doing some soul searching over the winter. Last fall we ran into a lot of opposition from other SEO ‘firms’ all the while we were telling potential clients names of other firms to contact for comparison. I will of course not do this again. I always make it a point to know our competition but how can one know that a competitor will outright lie about you?
Personally, and this is Kelly talking, I believe wholeheartedly that there is enough room in this industry for everyone. I do not fear other SEO people. Maybe this is most because I know I am one of only few in this area who can do Local SEO as well as I do. I am disciplined, I am stubborn in my orderliness, and I use my anal-retentive OCD nature to micro-manage every single detail down to the coma and semi-colon, and I force every detail to work to its highest efficiency for every single client.
You may ask, “What does a semi-colon have to do with SEO?” but trust me; it is the smallest details that make the biggest difference. So maybe this is why some other SEO people felt the need to say things about my work that was not true.
But enough about that. I want to talk about you! Yes you! My future client.
I find integrity also plays a huge part in our relationship as well. I know for certain that when I sit down with a client I am not only looking at the relationship from the business angle but also from a personal angle. I want to know if you and I will work well together. I am intelligent enough to know that not everyone gets along with everyone else. I also like to know if you as a client have any outrageous beliefs about SEO. The worse call I can get is the one with the voice on the other end saying, “I have been ripped off in the past.” Most of the time these business owners were ripped off because they wanted to believe the outrageous things they were being promised. They wanted to believe that there website would be on page one, top spot in three days from making their payment.
They didn’t bother to do any research on the company or the person on the phone at all. They wanted to believe they could get all their SEO dreams for only $49.99.
Please don’t be this small business owner. Please do your homework.
